Hello Scrappers!
Do you and your guy have a favorite song? Do you find yourself humming or whistling a song when you look at a picture? Songs indelibly mark many important moments in our lives. Using lyrics to add meaning and inspirational words to our digital scrapbooking layouts will add emotional depths to the memory.
Here are some steps to using lyrics in our layouts:
Step 1: Find the perfect song for your layout — think of what reminds you of the people or events in the photos and the mood you want to convey. Go through your music collection, or type “lyrics” in your favorite search engine and through the magic of the internet appropriate words will appear.
Step 2: Use the title of the song as the title of your layout, For example, if you’re doing a baby theme, use the title of the child’s favorite lullaby.
Step 3: Journal the first verse or first few verses and place them next to your photos. Or you them as part of a decorate border or frame.
Steph 4: Use the entire song lyrics in your layout on its own page and have the related photos on the facing page.
I have a couple of layouts to show you from the Creative Team using song lyrics. Both of our ladies chose to use songs by the Beatles. First I have Leah (CatLady) She used “Here Comes The Sun.” I liked the way she used the same lyrics around the edge of her photos. The picture works well with the rays of the sun and the shadows on the picture.
April (billvarmint) used “Good Day Sunshine” by the Beatles as the inspiration for her pool layout. I particularly like the way she added the plum and red tones to her layout to match the slide in her photo. Her flower clusters are absolutely perfect.
Need help finding the lyrics. Here’s a search engine dedicated to lyrics.
The next time you find yourself whistling a familiar tune, use that song to add to your layout. It will always be a special memory for those who know the song.
Hugs!
