Hello Chelle Fans! Welcome to another digital addition of “Classics!” Today we are going to be looking at some great layouts made by some of Chelle’s Creative Team Members using the must have “Under Construction” kit. If you have a little boy in your family, or a guy who loves to build things, this is a kit you have got to have in your digital scrapbooking stash! Lynette made a wonderful layout documenting the new porch she and her husband built for the house that didn’t have one! Love the element placement! Here is one made by Carol showcasing a cute little construction worker having fun at a Children’s Museum! That slight grungy feel is great! Here is one by Fonnetta showing off the remodel of her kitchen cabinets! I love that border and title work! Now, lest you think that you can only use a themed kit for that specific theme, here is another one by Fonnetta showing us the versatility of this kit. Isn’t is great?! Here is a look at the full kit. The image is linked to Chelle’s store at Scrap Orchard so that you can go and pick up this kit for yourself! Happy Scraping!
2.08 Tutorial: Using Strings
Hello friends! Have you ever wondered what to do with the strings that Chelle includes in her gorgeous digital scrapbooking kits? She has some lovely strings in various shapes and sizes. Take a look at the cute blue and white strings in her Pearly Whites kit. Melissa used one of these to wrap around her photo and the toothbrush embellishment on this gorgeous page about her little one’s new tooth. Heather also used a string in a cluster of embellishments, but rather than having it in the focal area of the page, she chose to use it as a subtle part of a flower cluster in the top right corner to draw your eye to the pumpkin scarecrow picture on her layout. Take a look: In case you’re wondering, she used two kits to make her page: Shades of Autumn and Midnight Crow.
Next, take a peak at Erica’s layout using Chelle’s new Winter Thrills kit: She used several strings on her page to help your eyes move across the page from one photo to the next. They’re tucked under frames across the page, and the end of a string is even tucked under a button giving it the illusion of being sewn to the page.
Finally, Fran made use of several strings all over her layout. They’re very effective in showing the layers of her border, and the ribbon and rope behind the photo draw your eye to her focal point photo. She used the Prehistoric kit, Bedrock Alpha, and some Ric Rac Flowers. I have to say, I love the Christmas decorations on those dinos!
Take a look at the kits you own, or maybe take this as a cue to shop, and let these layouts inspire you to use your strings to enhance your pages. If you use Chelle’s kits, be sure to post your layouts in her gallery at Scrap Orchard so we can all be inspired!
Pearly Whites | Digital Scrapbooking Classics
You’re in for a treat today! A few of Chelle’s Creations team members have been making beautiful digital scrapbook pages with the classic kit Pearly Whites. Have you seen it? Do you own it? It’s a gorgeous mix of blues and pinks perfect for pictures of your little one’s toothless grin or even pictures of your teen’s beautiful smile on the day she had her braces removed. Jami used the kit to make a page with a picture of the tooth pillow she uses with her children. I love how she used two teeth for the o’s in the title. Jenn had a similar idea with her title using the tooth as a substitute for the letter “o” in her layout about her daughter losing a tooth while the tooth fairy was “on vacation. “ Oooops! I’m sure the tooth fairy made up for overdue work when she returned!
Lest you think this kit is only good for pictures about teeth, take a look at Jan’s page about her daughter’s ice skating competition. Everything about the papers in this kit make it perfect for Jan’s pictures, from the pink, blue, and gray striped paper to the papers with sparkly embellishments that make me think of snow and ice. Heather also made a page about an impressive ice sculpture she saw called “Eskimo Kisses.” No teeth here, yet look how well the papers match the colored ice in the sculptures! Do you see how versatile this kit is? You can see it in more detail here. I hope you’ve been inspired to make some creative pages with it. Happy Scrapping!
Using Frames
Most digital scrapbook designers include frames in most of their kits, and Chelle’s Creations kits are no exception. Most of us think to frame our pictures with them, but they can be used in many other ways. Chelle’s team members have made some examples for you to see the many ways to use frames. Jennifer used two frames stacked and turned at angles to frame her photo in a non-traditional way. She also created the perfect background paper by arranging frames and papers together in a grid pattern. I hope this bruise is better by now. Ouch!!
Kairyn used a frame for a photo, but she also framed some embellishments and then had them hanging from a clothes line – very creative. Likewise, Lynnett framed some embellishments, but she has them peeking out from behind her photos, and her arrangement draws your eye to the center photo very well.
Finally, Kim used a frame to enclose her story, and it’s an entertaining one, so take time to read it. Very cute indeed!
Why don’t you take a minute to add a frame or two to a page you’re working on, and try to stretch yourself – use the frames in a way you haven’t done before.
