02.26 Video Tutorial: Isolated – Selective Coloring

Have you ever noticed photos where just a certain object in the photo was in color and the rest was black and white? Do you know how to get that same result with the photos you take? Chelle of Chelle’s Creations has created a video tutorial to explain just that. Let’s take a moment to watch and learn.

Helen (winipeg1) has used what she learned from the video to created this simply adorable layout. It almost seems as if Chelle designed the kit around the color of her bow because they go together so well. Helen used the Put a Ring on it kit to create her gorgeous layout.

Unfortunately, the kit used in this video tutorial is retired but take a look around Chelle’s Creations store to see if something else catches your eye. I hope you this video tutorial has given you a new way to showcase some of the photos you have. I hope to see some layouts featuring this technique in the galleries. Happy scrapping until I’m back next month with another fun and exciting tutorial to share with you.

Using Photos to Replace your Titles | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Friends!

This week we’ve been thinking about filling your titles with a photo. Out ladies’ came up with some fantastic digital scrapbooking layouts. The 2 layouts are so different in the way they used the photos. I think you’ll really love the ideas. They are just absolutely FUN! I asked Chelle for a brief explanation of how to do it. She said, “Just clip the photos to the letters the same way you would clip your photo to a photo spot in a template.” Easy peasey, right?

Not only did Donna use a photo in the shape of Florida. She also replaced the letters in her title “FLORIDA” with photos also. I love this new layout.

Donna used At the Beach.

cc_atthebeach.jpg

Next I have a layout by Roxana. Isn’t that a fun way to use “GOL” that is yelled when a team scores a goal. Great creativity.

Roxana (2)

Roxana used Kick It for her layout.

I think that you next book you publish should have a few layouts using photo titles. Have a wonderful day!

Street Smarts {reloaded} meets Make a Monster

Today we’re looking at a couple of items in Chelle’s Creations’ store that are perfect for recording your memories of sunny days and childhood loves on your digital scrapbooking pages. Street Smarts {reloaded} is the main kit and Chelle’s CT members have combined it with Make a Monster for the perfect embellishments.

First, Kimberly has a photo-less page in which she tells the story of her favorite memory watching a childhood TV show with her brother. She has created a perfect little monster to add to the corner of her page for emphasis. LovinTheStreet_zps9cf9f728

Next, Jan combined these two items to make a page about some scenes from a recent trip to Disney’s California Adventure. She created a couple of furry faces to use as embellishments around her page. ss and mam

Here’s a closer look at the items in the market. The images are linked.

Getting Files from here to there and everywhere | Digital Scrapbook Resources

Need a copy of that layout on your phone to post to instagram?  Or a copy of that journaling card on your tablet to add to a #scraponyourphone layout?  Or this layout (PSD version) from the desktop to the laptop?  Now days we use so many devices that frequently we need to get a file from this device to that one.  Small files like a web sized layout can easily be emailed, but I have a couple of other favorite solutions that work for small files AND those large PSD files.  Both options store your files remotely so you can access them from any device connected to the internet.

DROPBOX:

When you create a dropbox account, you’ll download an install a Dropbox folder on your computer.  Files you place in that folder will be available from your phone, tablet or any other computer with internet access.  On your phone/tablet you will need to install the free Dropbox app to access your files.  On another computer, you can access your files by logging in at dropbox.com.

You can also share files with others by sharing the link, or set up a “shared” folder(s) with those you want to collaborate with.

My favorite part of Dropbox is how it can automatically upload all of my photos to the “Camera Uploads” folder.  This is a quick and easy way to back up the photos I take on my phone or my camera (as well as my daughter’s and husband’s phones).  When you plug a camera or camera card reader into your computer after installing dropbox, a pop-up window appears asking if you want to add the photos to dropbox.  I have checked the ALWAYS box, so now mine happens automatically.  On my phone (and my family’s phones) I turned on auto upload in the settings.

PRICING:

2GB- Free

Up to 16GB- Free, if you refer a bunch of friends. With a basic free account, you get an extra 500MB per referral and you can earn up to 16GB total through this method.

1TB- $9.99 per month

googledrive

GOOGLE DRIVE:

When you set up your google drive, you’ll download an install a Google Drive folder on your computer.  Files you place in that folder will be available from your phone, tablet or any other computer with internet access.  On your phone/tablet you will need to install the free Dropbox app to access your files.  On another computer, you can access your files by logging in at dropbox.com.

You can also share files/folders with Google Drive.

My favorite part of Google Drive is how I can create or upload & edit files:  letters, spreadsheets, etc.  I’ve switched from using Excel to primarily using Google Sheets in my Google Drive.

PRICING:

15GB- Free

100GB- $1.99 per month

1TB- $9.99 per month

I do not use Google Drive OR Dropbox as a back-up service.  I believe that their pricing is cost prohibitive (I still use BackBlaze for that purpose) but for easy access across devices or between people, I use them all the time.
