Krista (kc71595) combined the CU Torn: Whites with Anchors Away and Liberty to create her lovely page. She also chose a template by Scrapping with Liz. I love how the torn paper adds a little texture to the page.

That smile would definitely melt my heart. Helen (winipeg1) used Fleur de Violoette to create this adorable page.

Using Word Art | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Friends!

Why do you use word art (s) in your digital scrapbooking? I love them. They can say anything or create an action-like movement to your layout. They add texture. You can change them up to match your layout or theme.

Here’s some basic ideas I thought of about word art(s).

Use bits and pieces of quotes or common phrases.
You can use many different “materials” by changing up the brushes in Photoshop.
Find the right words
Fit the title to the theme.
Be consistent if you like matchy-matchy.

Chelle makes fantastic word art. She uses the same font for all her word art(s) so they are consistent. Let me show you a few of my favorite word art(s) she has made.

Remember how I said they can include an action?

Quit Buggin’ Me {Bug Town} we all have little people who followed us around.
Boing! Check out Jump Zone
Fabulous 50s, let’s go dancing.
Good Night Teddy has me ready for a nap.
Liberty? I love a parade and fireworks.
Down on the Farm, I can smell the freshly cut hay.
Roller Coasters & Cotton Candy? I can feel the wind on my face as I ride that roller coaster.

Winter Woodland

Are you in the Northeastern US today? If so, you might be snowbound from the big storm, but I hope all is well with you and that you have power to stay warm and cozy. You might take this time to snap a few photos of the snow and make a digital scrapbook page using Chelle’s classic mini kit called Winter Woodland. It’s full of adorable woodland creatures and warm woolen mittens. But it’s also a great kit to scrap the not-so-snowy photos you might have. Let’s take a look at what Chelle’s talented team members have created with this mini.

First, Heather had some fabulous photos of the snow and ice from a December storm that she chose to use on her page. I love the way she made the title words in a cluster with that cute fox. She used a template from Scrapping with Liz to help her create this great page.

Next, Kimberly has a page to show us how to use this mini kit with non-snow pictures. Living in a warm climate means snow is only seen on a trip to the mountains, but it can still get quite chilly in her neighborhood. I love the hat her sweet daughter is wearing on her way to school, and it’s great the way she included a snapshot from her phone of the thermostat in her car. What a great way to document the times! She also used a template from Scrapping with Liz, and she used a blending mode in Photoshop elements to add snowflakes to the burlap background paper. To spruce up the scallops, she clipped the grungy mitten border to the cream paper.

Backwards Photo Blend

Hi Everyone! This is Jenn (jk703) here, hoping you are all doing well on this wintry (for me) Thursday! We’ve got a smidge of snow on the ground, and it is so cold out! I’m home with a sick child, and it is nice not having to go out and about today! Today I’m going to show you how to make a blend, but backwards, lol! It’s super easy, and looks great!

For the Backwards Photo Blend tutorial, I’ve used Chelle’s One Year Older Kit, and some new products from Scrapping with Liz. They were a perfect match and I love how my layout turned out! Here is my layout so far… a little bit of fun, and a lot of open space. I love open space layouts, but I’m not always the best at them. Sometimes, I feel like I spend more time trying to work on a clean layout versus a bit of clustering. So, let’s fill that BIG open space with a picture.

Next, I’ve pulled in a picture and for this image, it is above the paper. Just so I can see where I want the image, I’ve changed the blend mode for the time being. This way I can move the photo and see how it might look for the blend. This step is just for placement. After doing your photo moving, you will then put the image behind the background paper layer. (Remember, to change your image back to the Normal Blend Mode.)

Here is my Layer’s Palette. Photo on the borrow, background paper and then all the papers and embellishments. These are not the originals, just “copies” of the kit pulled into Photoshop. You also want to have a duplicate image of your photo. Not the original. The reason for this is that this method of blending/masking could damage your original photo or papers.

Next, I’ve selected the Eraser Tool.

For my selections on the Eraser Tool, here is the sub menu. I’ve selected a large soft brush eraser, and a flow of 25%. I usually start low, and if I need more erased, I go over again, or adjust the flow higher.

With my kraft background paper selected in the Layers Palette, I slowly click on where my son’s head is, to erase the paper. I click in a couple more spots, and after erasing, here is what my Backwards Photo Blend looks like. It is intended for him to look excited at the pictures of him, lol!

Next, I add a title and my journaling and I’m good to go. Space filled, a bit a cluster, title and journaling. All done!

Jenn (jennschultz) created a page using Chelle’s Rock the Vote and the Summertime mini kit! Perfect combination! She made a layout for a visit with Chip & Dale, and the backwards photo blend was done on the family picture!

Framing 101

There are lots of ways to use frames on your digital scrapbooking layouts. Chelle’s CT members have shared a few pages to show you what they like to do. Let’s start with a one photo layout with a stacked frame choice. Jennifer did this to draw attention to her focal point, and it looks fabulous. I love the way she filled the paper frames with the same photo and stacked them one on top of the other. She used See Clearly Now and the coordinating alpha.

Next, Krista made a couple of pages for us. She used Chelle’s Movie Night for her pages, and instead of filling the frames with photos, she stacked the frames on top of a couple of her pictures to draw attention to them. It’s a great technique and very easy to do since the photo doesn’t need to fill the frame but just hang out underneath it.

Finally, Lisa has used a plethora of framing ideas on her page. She has angled frames to attract attention much like Krista’s, mats that frame/outline points of interest, word art tag outlines to frame text, and she has used frames and elements to create scenes. She used Down On the Farm to create her adorable page.

Hi! I have an absolutely adorable layout to share with you this week. This layout is by Elk2009. She used Lay It On There Doubles 1 Template and Lovin’ from the Oven. Superb use of cluster and boarders. Of course the “baking with Grandma” is a great addition.
