Taking Self-Portraits With Kids | Digital Scrapbooking Tip of the Week Classics

HI Friends!

Do you get in the picture when you take “selfies” or self-portraits with your kids? That’s the most important thing. Make sure you include YOU in the photos. It’s really simple as a tip, but sometimes the simplest statements make the most impact. Our CT made some fabulous digital scrapbooking layouts.

Jan

Jan used I Write the Songs. Her picture showing the banner and her kids off to the side really got my attention.

Carol

Carol used Slam Dunk. The contrast between the “good” as well s the “funny” pictures.

Karen

Karen used Puppy Love.  She said she had furry kids when she takes self-portraits.

9.16.2015 Waterproofing Your Phone | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hey Friends!

Last month at our August ScrapTwister game, Chelle said,  “A few weeks back I heard from Steph (from the Daily Digi & Capturing Magic) about a waterproof phone case.  Well, I already had a life proof case.  In fact I’ve had two of them.  I LOVE taking photos with my phone in wet situations…like the pool & water rides.  But my life proof case is pretty complicated to use and quite expensive  (less than replacing a wet phone, but still…) ANYWAY…Steph said this phone case was affordable and worked great.  For just $10 I immediately ordered TWO.  (One for my husband and one for my daughter)  IT. IS. AWESOME.  SO easy to use.  Almost as easy as adding your phone to a Ziploc back.  AND I don’t have to take my phone out of its case to use it!

Photos are as clear as if my phone was not in the case:

I hope you find this tip useful.  Think of all the even more amazing digital scrapbooking photos you’ll be able to take and scrap. What could be better?

9.10.2015 Video Tutorial: Adding a Pattern to Accordion Flowers

If you are anything like me you love adding flowers to your scrapbooking pages. There are times though, when you are looking for a flower and can’t find one that fits what you imagined. These are the times I’m especially happy that I have added a few CU items to my stash. No I don’t design in any way, shape or form, but I love the ease of using the CU items to create the flower I had pictured when visualizing my page. With all the said, I’m here today to share with Chelle’s Creations video tutorial on how to add a pattern to accordion flowers using her CU Accordion Flowers + Action.

Now let’s take a look at the lovely flowers created by Chelle’s talented group.

Check out how well this kit and picture go together. This page was created by Donna (djp332) using Chelle’s Creations Fabulous 50s {bundle} along with a template by Scrapping with Liz. I really like the subtle pattern Donna chose on the flower.

The flower Lisa (kelseyll) created adds a very nice touch to the outdoorsy feeling page. She used Chelle’s Creations The Great Outdoors kit for her page.

Do you want to be able to create your own accordion flowers? Head over the Chelle’s store and pick up her CU Accordion Flowers + Action today.

As always be sure to share with us the pages you create. Happy scrapping!

9.9.2015 Using Panoramic and Landscape Photos

Now days, it seems most people have a cell phone with a panoramic option on the camera. It’s a great feature, but how does a really wide photo fit on a square digital scrapbooking page? Chelle’s Creations Creative Team have a few pages to show you how they use wide landscape photos. Let’s take a look!

First, Kimberly’s daughter texted her that there was a fire alarm at school, and when she asked her for more info she got no response. So of course this scared momma searched Twitter and found a picture of all her daughter’s high school friends standing outside their building when the false fire alarm was called. After being relieved that nothing was wrong, she made a great page about it. She cropped the photo somewhat but let it fill the entire width of the page and balanced the top and bottom spaces of the page with her title and journaling. She used Heroes {fire} and Techno Geek Mini kit to make her page. 2013_11-Fire-alarm-dbd_hero_fire_pp3_edited-1_zpszsoclvkp

Next, Jenn did something similar with her large landscape photo of a hiking trail. She used The Great Outdoors along with a Lay it on There 7 & 8 template to make her page. Notice how she filled the width of the page with her wide photo, but she balanced the weight of it with three smaller photos below, and she anchored them all together with the title spread across them all. in the woods

Finally, Karen did something totally different with her panoramic view of Paradise Pier. She used 3 photo spots to break up the width of her image without losing any of the detail, and she left lots of white space at the bottom of the page to let the eye rest. It’s a great way to showcase one very wide photo. She used Roller Coasters & Cotton Candy.paradisepier2013_600

Now that I’ve seen these three examples, I can think of lots of panoramic photos I want to take to use in my digital scrapbooks. Can you?
