Valentine’s Day Layouts | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Valentine’s Day! Love, Hearts & Candy. Since this post is about resources, I found some I thought I’d share with you. They are about Valentine’s Day Writing and Journaling Prompts

  • Complete this sentence: “I know ________ loves me because ….”
  • Make a list of ways that you can show your love for your family members.
  • Make a list of people who love you and give at least one reason why you know they love you.
  • Write a letter to your Mom or Dad telling them why you love them.
  • Describe a time when you felt especially loved.
  • Write an acrostic poem using the word “FRIEND.” (I had to look up “Acrostic” to see what it meant.)
  • Think of one reason you like each person in your family. Use your reasons to write Valentine’s cards to your family members.
  • Write a poem entitled “Love is …”

Valentine’s Day Story Starters:

  • Jake couldn’t wait to get to school. Today was the day of the class Valentine’s Day party.
  • When I looked up and saw Cupid with his bow, I knew we were in trouble. …
  • Mi-Lin woke up itchy. Seeing tiny red spots all over her arms, she groaned. What could be worse than chickenpox on the day of the school Valentine’s festival?
  • Tommy Terrence thought Valentine’s Day was for babies. But one special Valentine’s Day made him change his mind.
  • Clarence the Candymaker rubbed his hands gleefully. Today, he would introduce the world to a whole new kind of Valentine’s Day candy.
  • Jessica couldn’t believe her eyes. Stuffed into her mailbox was the biggest Valentine she had ever seen. …

Here are some ideas of my own:

  • One of my nieces made a shadow box. She used a title of “I love Gordon because….” and then a heart shape frame was filled with little strips of paper saying the reasons she loves her hubby. They strips are all in different colors & jumbled about within the heart frame. What a beautiful expression of love. Make a digital scrapbooking heart and layer on your reasons.
  • If you are a single person, Valentine’s Day can get a little touchy. Why not create a mini album using the Title, “I Love………” Then use a favorite activity or sport as what you love. I love skating. I love the Utah Jazz. You get the idea. Being single just gives you more leeway in what you love.
We challenged our Creative Team so make us some wonderful layouts and they ventured out on their own and gave us some hybrid designs too. Let me share them with you. I’ve also linked you up to the products they used.
  • Crystal (krstylbear) starts us off with Love Grows. She created a lunch box note card. Her used of the baker’s twine and the brown paper envelope really ties it all together. The heart ribbon and stitching gives it a sweet nostalgic feel. How could a son not know his mother loves him! She used Love Grows, Rub-Ons & Bonus Papers.

  • Kassie (kass_23) I adore this LO. Using Chelle’s Techno Love kit, Kassie emphasizes the love shared between she and her husband. Clearly defined papers really flow together nicely and the the clustering emphasizes their love and how crazy they are for each other. Isn’t the graph paper with the tiny tossed hearts the cutest ever?

Kassie (kass_23)

  • Jenn J (jmljensen) Added some love to her layout by adding some flowers, greenery, & different pieces of paper to surround her son with love. Look how well the shades of blue tie it all together. Of course, he would be her valentine! She used Love Grows kit.

Jennifer #2 (jmljensen)

  • Last up, Sheila (Nonna@Dreja) used Letters From Home to share a beautiful poem. The banner, stamps, & buttons surround the poem with the vintage doily and kraft envelope make it even lovlier.  This layout transcends time, it could be used now or it might have been used by your Grandfather and given to your Grandmother.

Sheila (Nonna2Dreja)

  • Here’s another hybrid idea. Jenn (jmljensen) used Techno Love to create these darling fortune cookies. Oooh I can just imaging the fortune strips and the excitement from a spouse or children/grandchildren would have guessing what their fortune might be. Jenn made these using the Techno Love kit.

  • Kayla (keepscrappin) used some sepia or tonal colors to emphasize her “He Loves Me” layout. What a great guy, he gave her chocolate covered strawberries! The bright colors on the side and her creative use of the clustering with the string really makes the reds and browns grab your attention. She used Chelle’s Chocolate Lovers kit.

I know I feel inspired to scrap and I hope you have some great ideas. So scrap them now and add them to the gallery. I’m excited to see what you create. Hugs!

Using a Large & | Digital Scrapbooking Skills

I love browsing the web for the latest trends, don’t you? Lately, my mojo has taken a vacation, and I was looking for inspiration for digital scrapbooking tips and trends. I saw lots of uses of a giant ampersand on different marketing sites and scrapbooking sites, and Chelle’s talented creative team members have created some fantastic pages using a large “&.” I am really very inspired by them, and I know you will be, also.

Just look at Jan’s page. She has a page about those adorable towel animals the room steward left in her cabin on a recent cruise. Her steward also took care to tuck in her children’s stuffed animals and give them the star treatment every day. Her photos tell the story, and I love how she used the ampersand to join the two main words in her title! It makes me long to go on another cruise. By the way, she used Oh Snap! for her page.towels_zpseb2da153

Here’s a layout from Leslie. She had photos of her son Matthew & their dog Nittany and wanted to scrap this page. For her “AND” she filled the letter with color coordinating blue shades using the words, “Puppy Love,” which really made the contrast work. Her use of size in the font also pulled my eyes toward the “&” to see what she had done. Choosing to use Winter Thrills with colors that worked with her photo and the font from Gone Fishin ties in Nittany’s fur, really adds to the charm of this wonderful memory

Next, Jenn used the same idea using a large ampersand joining two words in her title. The two words are significant because the page is all about the money in the Great Piggy Bank Adventure. I’m sure this fun game is challenging her children to learn to save their nickels and dimes and invest them wisely. Appropriately, Jenn has used Money, Money and the Marker Alpha for this cute page.

Shanell added this layout about her husband flying her and the kids down to a family Christmas party in 2010. It was a last-minute and they told everyone to meet at the airport if they wanted a ride in an airplane. It took me a minute to find her “&”, but then I saw them, the fun random chevron paper behind the “Fathers. Her composition with the clusters and double row of stitches adds to the fun and excitement of a great day. She used About A Boy.Shanell (happinessis) She used About A Boy

Liz created a page about her and her hubby and how they belong together. Love the “pink” list for her and “green” list for him. Love how that large “&” hooks the lists together. So simple, so elegant. I had to ask her what the font name was that she used. (Lavendaria) She used Chelle’s Love Grows Kit.

Finally, Lynett has two boys in her photo, and what better way to title a page than with their names joined by the large ampersand. They are certainly the main characters of the story, and it looks like they were having a blast checking out the shark tank. The shark in the photo and Chelle’s cute felt shark both look like they have their aim set for Tyler & Harrison. I hope they got out of the aquarium unscathed! Lynett used a lot of Chelle’s great kits for her page including Photo Stacks, Something Fishy and the Something Fishy Felties.   sharktank_zpsff8fa6d2

I hope you are inspired as I am . This was just the thing to jump start my scrapping for the week!

Perfect Pairs: About A Boy & Gone Fishing | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hello Friends! Today we are looking at two of Chelle’s kits to see how well they work together: About A Boy and Gone Fishin’!  We challenged our team to ramp up their creativity and show us some great digital scrapbooking layouts using these 2 marvelous kits. Look how realistic the rainbow trout looks!

Look at this sunshiny layout by Erica (stanworth). You can’t beat a little boy and his stick. If there’s water nearby, you know that little guy is going to find it and a stick makes it all the more fun. Find some worms that have drowned and you have little boy utopia! I like the way the green looks like a stage and then banner hooks into the “drapes.” Her journaling is awesome as it wraps around the “Stick.” That little guy pulls me right in, even though I only see his back!

Erica (Stanworth)

Next we have a layout by Carol (Iowan). The fish, the bow & arrow, the clusters, and those hints of color to go with the browns. Carol skillfully added charm to this layout by incorporating bits & pieces of About A Boy with the fish and water drop of Gone Fishin’. Even though Dad doesn’t appear in the picture, you can bet Dad and Grandpa (& Grandma) are right there encouraging their little guy to do his best.
Carol (Iowan)

Mel used a great picture of her son, Quentin,  for her layout. Isn’t that a cute way to show he’s 13? The strings and clusters are perfect. The paper strips and the  flowers make this LO very nice and “boy” approved.

Quentin13

Leslie (lab130) just e-mailed me another LO. Oh, this little guy has stolen my heart. He needs a hug from his newly adopted Aunt Sari. Those eyes…. OK back to the subject at hand. Leslie used scallops to perfection. With that little car right next to his face, you can tell, he’s ready to go drive around on all those fun scalloped edges. I can almost hear the car crashing as it reaches the end of the road. Great use of the blue eyes with the blue paper. The wood grain paper is a solid base that pulls it all together. Cutie pie! What a great title.LBeahm-perfect-pairs-aboutaboy-goingfishin

Here are the links to the kits used in these layouts. (Here’s a funny. Some of our ladies used Something Fishy and some used Gone Fishin’. We decided to just show you “3” perfect pairs. LOL

Hope we have given you some great ideas. Perhaps you wouldn’t have put these two (or three) kits together, but now that you see how they work together, I bet you’ll have some great ideas. Scrap them and put them in the gallery. I enjoy seeing what you create. Hugs!
